Boone & Scenic Valley R.R.

This locomotive was designed and built in China and was a gift to the United States. All the controls in this piece are labeled in Chinese. China sent a delegation of technicians to train the engineers to operate the locomotive and interpret the Chinese symbols and markings.

This is the view hanging out the window of the passenger car as the train crosses the 180 foot high, 3500 foot long trestle.

The trestle over Scenic Valley. There is a sister trestle a little south of this one that Union Pacific uses on a daily basis.

Union Pacific #1098 is an Alco S2 with a new paint job. Real pretty in person!

Alco RS1 light road switcher with slug is being readied for paint. I don't know what road name will be used on this unit.

Fort Dodge, DesMoines & Southern

A pleasant 20 minute ride to downtown Boone and back on this turn of the century trolley car of the former Fort Dodge, DesMoines & Southern, part of the Iowa Railroad Historical Society (Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad).

This appears to be a diesel electric 60 tonner, but I could be wrong. I didn't see it in the equipment roster, or I missed it altogether. Fort Dodge, DesMoines & Southern.
