The Durango and Silverton Railroad is one of the
last remainaing narrow guage roads in the country. Here D&S RR #478
prepares to depart for the town of Silverton thirty miles away and about
five thousand feet higher. The D&S RR has four such locomotives in
their fleet, formerly part of the Denver & Rio Grande.
