Union Pacific

I caught this coal train while atop a wooden 9 ton bridge near Boone, IA, consisting of two C44W Dash 8s, and about 30 open two bay hoppers. There are 50 to 60 coal trains a day running thru this area. If you like train watching, you can get all you want here. Below is one of UPs trains crossing a 180 foot high bridge over Scenic Valley.

Another UP coal train travels west from Galt, IL over an old iron truss bridge just west of town.

These Union Pacific photos were taken in Rochelle, IL. It is reported that an average of 70 to 90 trains pass thru Rochelle during every 24 hr period. It you like to watch trains, this is the place to be.

These hard working UP locomotives pull from 60 to 100 trains a day through Grand Island, NE going east to west and vice-versa. This Crossing is at Walnut Ave.

U.P. trains near Rock Falls, IL at the Agnew Road crossing. All these trains passed this crossing within a half an hour. Needless to say this line is busy all the time.

No. 7924 leads a container train eastbound. No. 1954 heads an aggregate train westbound with Southern Pacific 6217 as the second tractive unit.

A KATY with UP number 1988 leads an eastbound freight. Second  power is UP 7616. An eastbound aggregate train is led by 6517.

U.P. trains in Clinton, IA at the ADM marshalling yard. ADM has a huge facility here that covers several square miles.
Nos. 744 and 644 sit coupled to a consist of grain hoppers.

Unfortunately, I was unable to get the numbers on  these two locos pulling into the ADM loadout area. 6877 and 8130 wait outside a car repair facility.

Aggregate/coal train passes under US30 at Agnew Road in Rock Falls, IL. 6567 is actually attached to the rear and heading backwards.
